O'Kelly Hall

Formerly known as Science Hall, it was built in 1949. In September 1995 was renamed in honor if Dr. Bernard O'Kelly, Dean Emeritus of the College of Arts and Sciences. O'Kelly retired in 1995 as the longest-serving arts and science dean in the nation. O'Kelly was the founding member and the first convener of the North Dakota Committee for the Humanities and Public Issues. He has also served as the first president of the National Federation of State Humanities Program.

Oath Required

In accordance with North Dakota Century Code (Section 15-37-01) State Board of Higher Education Policy 610 requires that every professor, instructor, or teacher employed by any university, college or Normal School in this state which is supported in whole or in part by public funds, before entering upon the discharge of his/her duties, shall take the following oath of affirmation: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of North Dakota, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of my position according to the best of my ability." One copy of the oath must be filed with the State Board of Higher Education and one copy retained by the faculty member.

Office of Personnel Services

The Office of Personnel Services is maintained for the purpose of assisting the various departments on campus in fulfilling their staff employee needs, as well as assisting persons who are interested in working at the University of North Dakota. The University offers a wide variety of positions to qualified persons without discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, political affiliation, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or national origin. These positions include clerical and professional work, laboratory and hospital services, engineering and mechanical work, food services and custodial, skilled and unskilled labor and many others.
